What Is Pergamon?

Content Management Systems allow brands to manage all their technical content in one place. Pergamon takes this concept one step further: For a wide range of product types, Pergamon is able to automatically select and apply all required instructions, safety warnings and other legally mandatory sections that need to go into a product manual. Pergamon can automatically compile fully compliant and user friendly ready-to-print product manuals for different countries.

Using a CMS is the first step to organising and structuring technical content. We leverage AI to speed up content analysis. The advanced capabilities of large language model based AI applications allow us to quickly and accurately identify areas of commonality across a large number of technical documents and to cluster them into topically related building blocks. As we are aware of the strict standards technical documents need to meet to ensure legal compliance we do not use AI for copywriting purposes, but only to analyse texts.

One of the main advantages of investing into a CMS for technical documentation is that it reduces the unit costs for any technical document and will also shorten the time required to create new documents. Once we have imported a significant proportion of your existing product manuals into Pergamon, we are able to create additional product manuals for related products in a short amount of time. Based on results we have seen with clients who have made the switch, we have observed up to 70% cost saving and up to 80% reduced delivery times, as compared to traditional product manual creation processes.

Why Pergamon?

by LLMs
Relying on large language models (LLMs) to generate user manuals poses serious accuracy risks. These models predict text based on patterns, but not true understanding, which can lead to hallucinations—plausible but false information.
In compliance-critical documentation, even minor errors like incorrect safety instructions or fabricated standards can result in legal violations or safety hazards. LLMs often lack contextual awareness, misinterpret product-specific requirements, and produce inconsistent terminology. To ensure factual reliability and legal compliance, user manuals should be authored from a well-developed database or but not generated solely by LLMs.

Because a large portion of the content comes from a maintained database in Pergamon, the tone and terminology remain consistent across manuals. When the LLM generates new text, it can be directed to mimic the style of the existing content. Pergamon also has built-in validation steps – effectively AI-powered QA – to check the draft manual against rules (for example, ensuring all mandatory safety phrases are present, measurements use the correct units, etc.). This built-in review contrasts with a pure LLM approach where quality control would rely on manual proofreading. In fact, Pergamon advertises that its process replaces “repeated reviews” with “built-in validation” for higher quality output.

User Manual Creation
Pergamon leverages AI and its proprietary database to significantly accelerate manual content creation—drafting sections, suggesting wording, translating content, and more—all while operating within a controlled framework. Non-expert users can input some basic product data and let the AI assemble the draft manual from the database content blocks, only invoking generative AI when needed. This way, even users without deep regulatory knowledge can create a compliant manual by tapping into the embedded expertise of the system. Essentially, it offers the best of both worlds: the speed and scalability of AI, and the reliability of expert-curated information.
How Does Pergamon Work?

collection
The Pergamon on-boarding process is designed to get you started as quickly as possible. As a first step we import all your product manuals into the Pergamon system.

structuring
In the second stage your product manuals are analysed and classified. The goal of this process is to categorise all your products and to identify areas of overlap in the technical documentation. To analyse texts faster we also leverage AI.

creation
Our team creates your product manuals using the structured data available in Pergamon. As the overlap of different product manual copies increases with every product variant that is added to Pergamon, the product manual creation process becomes more efficient over time.

stage
The product manuals are exported from Pergamon and imported into Adobe inDesign where the final layout and design is applied. We are also planning to create websites to host your user manuals to ensure full compliance with new EU regulations.
